Juras' new book is scheduled to be released in March of "The Wild Treasury of Nature" is the second of Juras' works exploring the presettlement wilderness of the American South as the early naturalists would have encountered it.
Juras recieved his BFA from Lamar Dodd School of Art at. Now living in Athens, Georgia, with his wife Beth Gavrilles, Philip’s work explores the rich aesthetics of a wide range of ecologically intact natural environments.
In conjunction with the exhibit, the book Philip Juras: The Southern Frontier, Landscapes Inspired by Bartram’s Travels was published by the Telfair Museums and is distributed by the University of Georgia Press.
In The Southern Frontier earned Philip the Georgia Author of the Year Award in the Specialty Book category from the Georgia. For the artist Philip Juras, the barrier island has also been a goldmine of inspiration.
